Tips for Creating Effective QR Codes
Test Before Printing
Always scan your QR code with multiple devices before printing. Test with both iOS and Android phones to ensure compatibility across platforms.
Use High Contrast Colors
Dark foreground on light background works best. Avoid using similar colors for foreground and background, as this reduces scanner readability.
Keep Data Short
Shorter data creates simpler, more easily scannable QR codes. Use URL shorteners for long URLs and keep text content concise.
Size Matters
Print QR codes at a minimum of 2cm x 2cm (about 0.8in). For scanning from a distance, increase the size proportionally — roughly 10:1 distance-to-size ratio.
Use H Level with Logos
When adding a logo overlay, always set error correction to H (High). This ensures the QR code remains scannable even with the center partially obscured.
Add a Call-to-Action
Place text near your QR code like "Scan to connect" or "Scan for menu." People are more likely to scan when they know what to expect.
